PDF file reader software is not just Adobe Reader or Foxit
Reader. Many other software can be used to read documents in that format,
including MuPDF. Actually, it's not just PDF files that can be opened by this
free software.
If you only see the name, maybe the impression that emerges
is that MuPDF is only made for reading PDF files, but it's not. Besides PDF
files, several other types of files that can be opened with MuPDF are XPS,
OpenXPS, FictionBook 2, EPUB and CBZ.
The first advantage you can get from MuPDF is portability.
So, after extracting, MuPDF can be taken anywhere by storing it on a flash
drive and can be used on other computers without having to be installed.
The second advantage, its use is as simple as the Sumatra
PDF Reader. Run the software, open the PDF file, then read the file to finish.
Both loading speeds are also equivalent. What distinguishes the two is how to
use it.
All options available in MuPDF can only be accessed via the
keyboard shortcut. For example, F1 to access the search feature. This search
box appears at the very top. After you press Enter on the keyboard, the search
box will immediately disappear. That's why some users think MuPDF can only
display the first search results. In fact, MuPDF can also display the second
search results and so on, but for that you must use the keyboard shortcuts in
the form of "n" (to see the next search results) and "N"
(to return to the previous search results).
There is also the "m" shortcut that is used to
mark pages. This designation is not for highlighting or bookmarking, but so you
can return directly to the page every time you type the "t" shortcut.
Another shortcut is "g" which is used to jump to a
specific page, for example from page 10 to page 82. How, to open page 82, type
"82g" (without the quotes). You don't need to press Enter because
once the shortcut is typed, the desired page will open immediately.
In addition there is also a shortcut "Z" which
functions to activate the autofit feature. This feature displays the full PDF
page based on the page's orientation. To better understand this feature, you
can zoom in on a page with the "+" shortcut a few times first, then press
the "Z" shortcut.
